Today I had my second "artist date". I am still in week 1 of the course so I am
not doing things exactly
by the book. I took a walk in my neigbourhood and made some pictures of places I passed by and visited between 17:00h and 20:00h.
This is the American fifties-style
milk bar "Le Balmoral" on the ground floor of my appartment. Very colourful indeed. My daughter likes to have a banana milkshake there every now and then.

This is a
children's clothes shop (Claude Hontoir) a few houses away. Very colourful too, but a litte too expensive for my taste.

I went to a
second hand store "les Petits Riens" (literally translated: the small nothings) where I was in search of a
colourful mug to drink tea in at work. I arrived at the shop at ten past five and the shop closed at 5:30 so I had little time to stroll around. But I did find a colourful Pocahontas mug and my eye also caught

a little
Gaudi-style cup, a souvenir item from Barcelona. These two items cost me 1.25 euros... I love Gaudi's mosaics; one day I want to be able to make these kinds of shiny mosaics myself. I have visited Barcelona several times by the way: a great place.
Then there suddenly appeared a
lion behind a window: impressive!
I went into a
arts shop "Lez-Arts-Cachés" where they sell all kinds of artsy stuff and because I could not resist, I bought a pair of wooden earrings (10 euro). I also talked to the lovely shop owner Virginie about arts and creativity and how she started the shop; I became a facebook friend of the shop.

Nijinsky is the
second hand bookshop, where I bought a book that was on my To Read-list, "
the five people you meet in Heaven" (5.50 euros)
Then I witnessed a
scuffle between a cab driver and a client who apprantly did not want to pay the fee. " I want my money! I want my money!" Very inspiring ;-)
To end my trip, I went into a "
resto bar"
Banco!, where I had a nice penne carbonara and did some reading and writing.

Again a great date with the artist in me!
(next time i'll try not to spend money ;-))
